01 Jun Navigate Principal Ian Waxman Named to Compass-Philadelphia Board
We’re excited to share that our own Ian Waxman, Principal, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Compass for Greater Philadelphia. Compass is a nonprofit organization that provides pro bono strategic consulting services to area nonprofits. Navigate representatives, including Ian, have contributed significant time to supporting local organizations selected by Compass through projects focused on Board Development, Funding Strategies, Strategic Alignment, and Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations.
The Compass program has been fine-tuned with proven processes ranging from client and volunteer selection to project implementation. Compass is a highly competitive program, seeking top business school graduates and senior business professionals to serve as Project Leaders, staffing each project team with a mix of volunteers with complementary skills and experience.
Compass currently serves organizations whose work benefits either the Washington, D.C., Chicago, or Greater Philadelphia communities.
As a member of the board, Ian will contribute to organizational governance, strategic planning, support of Compass programs and services, and fundraising. Ian also served for the past nine months on a Compass team supporting Maternity Care Coalition.
“The work I do for Compass has been very rewarding and a great outlet to share my professional expertise with organizations making a real impact on our community,” he said. “I’m excited to take a broader role with Compass as it sets its course for the future.”
“Ian’s enthusiasm for the mission of Compass was obvious from his first interview to be a volunteer, and the values that he and Navigate are committed to so clearly align with ours,” said Beth Dahle, Executive Director of Compass. “We look forward to the continued strategic counsel he will bring to our organization and the nonprofits we serve.”
In addition to Ian, two other members of Navigate’s team volunteered with Compass this past year. Laura Baker, Senior Manager, served on a team that supported the Nationalities Services Center, and Phil Schmoyer, Manager, served on a team that supported the Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF). Compass teams meet frequently and members spend two to three hours per week working on their projects.
Navigate’s commitment to Community Involvement is central to the firm’s Core Values. Read more about the firm’s outreach activities here.
