A Little Friendly Competition: Nav Field Day 2019

There are many things that unite us at Navigate: quotes from classic movies, a great beer list at happy hour, killer service to our clients, college sports… There is, however, one thing that divides us: field day.

Yes, every summer, we divide into teams, and go head-to-head in fierce, no-holds-barred competition. Four teams battle for glory and bragging rights. This year was no exception.

We played volleyball and cornhole, challenged each other in potato sack races and knockout, and had Jenga and putting contests throughout the day. Food trucks from Maglio’s and Kona Ice kept us nourished, and in the end, the black team – better known as The Night’s Watch – prevailed over us all.

Field day is the direct result of a design thinking exercise we did several years back. We were looking for new and different ways for our team to engage and spend time together outside of regular work activities. After splitting into persona groups, brainstorming, ideating, and a good bit of chuckling, Field Day was born.

Now, just eleven months to train for next year …
